City Montessori School

About Our School Established in 1959 with 5 students on its rolls, the City Montessori School grew over the years with the number of pupils attending, growing from a hundred, to a thousand, to thirty-five thousand today. Recognised as the world's largest private school today by the Guinness Book of World Records, the school provides education for students from kindergarten level through the graduate level that focuses on both academic excellence and emotional well-being. The vision of Mahatma Gandhi is incorporated in the education and is represented in the Four Building Blocks of CMS Education. Its curriculum focuses on defining values and learning about peace: students follow lessons in world citizenship, social responsibility, peace issues and religious values. Every CMS event starts with a prayer for peace in the world. For its unique contributions in the field of peace education, the school was awarded with the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education in 2002 which made it the only school in the world to receive such an honour.

The education of the City Montessori School (CMS) is based on the Four Fundamental Building Blocks:
• Universal Values;
• Global Understanding;
• Excellence in All Things;
• Service to Humanity.

Striving for excellence is considered normal in CMS. Parents and teachers are regarded as role models for the pupils. Both groups play an important role in the education of the children. For this reason parents are encouraged to be involved in the school curriculum as much as possible.

Hi there! We at Rasdian are working on a written project using Google Docs. Google Docs is a free, Web-based word processor offered by Google. It allows us to create and edit documents online while collaborating in real-time. If your students would like to join the Project by contributing and editing using Google Docs about Global Warming please feel free to e-mail me at basrihamzah@gmail.com. Names of participants shall be noted in the completed article on Global Warming to be published at http://basrihamzah.blogspot.com/.

Dear Rishi, I have been following the progress of your organizing efforts with pleasure as they have already started being met with success. Mr. Dimitris has done a great job initiating you to the clubefl; you can always summon him on skype when the esclub contact is available. We are still deliberating about the details of the conference and you will be notified about anything that has been finalized. Meanwhile, I have a suggestion to make: since traveling expenses are overwhelming to many, why not take advantage of the 21st century Internet global communications capabilities by allowing us to ‘participate’ in an online virtual presence of some kind. You already know how we use skype – yuuguu for online screen sharing meetings and collaboration. Thus, your fair will move on and evolve into the digital future expanding further outside its current locale limitations. This is also why we would appreciate it if you allowed us to register some of your students in the virtual classroom for international communication we have created at our school (communication/my class blog stories/schools united). Working towards a common better future for all of our students, Christos

Dear Rishi Khanna, thank you so very much for your warm and gracious welcome! I am Daniel Long, a teacher at the Twin Valley High School. I have had a moment to look at your school website, and it is most impressive! I would be very interested in learning about opportunities in the area of music that you might have coming about in the future. Our students have joined with music students in many different areas of the world to learn about each other and create music together. I would welcome any activity that used music in anyway. I anxiously await to hear from you again! You can contact me directly at dlong@tvsd.org, or continue to post on our comment board with The Schools United. Many thanks!! Dan
